🚨 Operation Sceptre – Keeping Our Community Safe 🚨

Good afternoon residents, 

This week, your local officers are taking part in Operation Sceptre, a national initiative aimed at tackling knife crime and keeping our communities safe. The operation has been intelligence lead with information passed from the community. This operation is in place 18th May - 24th May 2026. 

Throughout the week, you may notice: 

🔹 Increased patrols in areas
🔹 Stop and search activity (where necessary)
🔹 Engagement visits with schools and local partners
🔹 Knife surrender bins available for safe disposal around the Salford area
🔹 Education and prevention work with young people

Knife crime has a devastating impact, not just on those involved, but on families and the wider community. Operation Sceptre is about prevention, education, and enforcement.

How you can help: 

✅ Talk to young people about the dangers of carrying knives
✅ Report concerns or information to police
✅ Dispose of knives safely using surrender bins - These amnesty bins are advertised on the Salford GMP Facebook page.
